Summary
The Amazon Trade- In team is a part of WaysToPay group, Trade-In allows customers to trade in their devices by providing them with gift cards to be used towards the purchase of another Amazon device. Through Amazon Trade-In, customers in the US, UK and Germany can trade in thousands of eligible items, including Amazon devices, cell phones, video game, consoles and more. By allowing customers to trade in their devices, we are keeping those devices out of landfills and doing our part to reduce waste, re-use pre owned devices, and recycle devices not qualified for re-use. The Trade-In team is part of Amazon’s commitment to building a sustainable business for our customers and the planet.

Key job responsibilities

• Develop high quality distributed and scalable software systems and ensure code follows coding best practices and standards
• Be collaborative and able to successfully navigate multi-functional teams within the organization
• Write unit tests, integration tests and functional automation
• Work with AWS technologies such as SQS, SNS, Lambda, Dynamo DB
• Launch new customer programs and products to help grow the Trade-In business
• Develop and maintain current code base
• Drive best practices and processes
• Work in an Agile/Scrum environment
• Provide on call support and problem resolution for current systems

About the team

Join a team of highly skilled Software Engineers delivering new ways for customers to trade in their devices. As a Software Development Engineer on our team, you will have the opportunity to have a direct impact on the customer experience and to help grow the Trade-In business. We use OOO programming languages and state of the art technology such as AWS to build solutions for our customers.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • 1+ years of experience contributing to the system design or architecture (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems.
  • 2+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
  • Programming experience with at least one software programming language.

* Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or another technical field, or commensurate professional experience.
* Proficiency in at least one modern object-oriented programming language such as Java, C++ or C#
* Deep understanding of CS fundamentals including data structures, algorithms and complexity analysis
* Experience building large-scale, high-performance systems in a complex, multi-tiered, distributed environment
* Design and architecture knowledge as well as familiarity with object oriented analysis and design patterns (OOA/OOD)
* Ability to thrive in fast-paced, dynamic environment
* 4+ years of professional software development experience
* Experience developing cloud software services and an understanding of design for scalability, performance and reliability
* Development experience defining, developing and maintaining web service API’s
* Demonstrated ability to mentor other software developers to maintain architectural vision and software quality
* Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior management to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy
* Experience taking a leading role in building complex software systems that have been successfully delivered to customers
* Knowledge of professional software engineering practices & best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
* Experience with distributed computing and enterprise-wide systems

• Experience in developing cloud software services and have an understanding of design for scalability, performance and reliability
